Thanksgiving Week!

This week went by to fast. We loved every minute of it and hated to see it end. Mom, Dad and Haleigh got here Monday afternoon just as Elena was getting out of school. It was so fun to have them come early so we could spend time with them. We took them to Dewar's for ice cream after our gratitude family home evening. Although the weather had chilled down a bit we still had a good day. Tuesday we spent the day shopping and getting ready for Thanksgiving. That night, mom and dad watched the kids and Lemuel, me and Haleigh hit the 9:30 showing of the new Bond movie (which was really good!) The next morning we headed to Magic Mountain in the pouring rain! Despite the rain we had such a great time! Because the weather was poor, the lines were very short! We loved the rides and laughed and danced in the rain. Christmas songs were playing which just made us all even more excited. What a great treat from Grandpa and Grandma.

When it started to get colder we left the park and headed for a nice warm meal. What better place than In-n-Out! Haleigh really wanted to eat here while she visited and we couldn't disappoint her!

Aidanisms

Monday night we were having family home evening and we were discussing honesty. In the lesson it talks about the Ten Commandments. Aidan was holding up a picture of the Ten Commandments when he turned it around so he could see it and said, "Eeww mommy it's dead!" At first I couldn't figure out what he was talking about, then I looked at it again and then at Aidan and he shook his head and said, "It's scary momma, it's dead!" I guess to a 2 year old, that is what it looks like. He thought it was a gravestone. ;)

This morning while we were reading scriptures, Aidan was quietly eating his cereal. Max was reading in verse 28 in 1 Nephi that said, "...Wherefore Laman and Lemuel did speak hard words unto us, their younger brothers, and they did smite us even with a rod." Aidan turns to Max and says, "Bite? No, no bite! Max that not nice." It was so cute to hear what he got out of our reading.

Happy Holidays!

I am so excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas I can't contain myself!  This week is sure to be a crazy one with all that I have going on, but then next Monday my parents and little sis are coming to visit and then my other sis and her family are coming Wednesday night! I am so excited. The kids are counting down the days and can't wait to see their cousins. I love the holidays!

I have been listening to and practicing some Christmas songs for our enrichment dinner and program and just love them. They make me get giddy for the holidays!  I am totally one of those people who can't sleep on Christmas Eve because I am so excited for the morning!  I love wandering the stores and seeing all the decorations. But I am mostly looking forward to spending some with my family. Only one more week!  [giddy, giddy] :-)

2nd Grade Program

Last Thursday Max had his 2nd grade patriotic program. I was so proud of him for memorizing all of his songs!  He did a fantastic job and even memorized his little part. His favorite song was called "Fifty Nifty" with all the 50 states. It was a lot of fun to sing along to the songs. Lemuel turned to me and said, "you know all of these?" I just laughed and said, "I think it is a requirement for all the kids in elementary school to learn the patriotic songs." Even Aidan danced along to the songs. We took heaps of videos but only a couple of pictures. The top one was taken by Aidan of all people. I had to crop his fingers out of it and I don't know if you can see Max or not, but he was sure proud to help out!  :) Great job Max!

Prop 8 passed!

I just want to share how happy I am that Prop 8 passed. :) It was a lot of work and so many people dedicated there time to make it happen. I really respect the hard work that goes into campaigning.

Election

The votes are in and we have a new president elect. I am still so uncertain as to the future of our country and it scares me more knowing I am raising my children in such perilous times. Thank goodness for the gospel in my life and for our prophet who leads and guides us. I am so grateful to have the blessings of the gospel and for the comfort it gives to me and my family. Elena woke up this morning and said, "Obama won didn't he?" She was pretty distraught. She said, "What's going to happen now? What about Prop 8 did it pass?" It blows me away how much the kids have retained throughout this Prop 8 push. They have been so supportive of all the times we have helped and talked about the subject. Even last night as we had the final push, they spent an hour and a half helping me hang door signs and knock doors to remind people to get out and vote yes on Prop 8! Now as we play the waiting game for the last 8% of precincts to be recorded, I am anxious and scared to know how our lives will change if Prop 8 doesn't pass. Now I sit and wait......
